Sekel was born in 1852. Sekel Bennema was the son of Jacob Sekels Bennema (bef.1836-) and Bouke Reinders van der Molen (bef.1836-).
Sekel married 25 year old Aafke Huizinga (1852-1885) at 25. He worked as a landbouwer then.[1]
