Almost nothing is known of little Charles Bonine, born on his parents' farm in Logan, Illinois, USA, before September 1842. He was the child of Clark Bonine and his first wife, Clarissa (Crouch) Bonine. His mother died from complications following Charles' birth in September 1842.
Clark Bonine and his 2nd wife, Roena (Rogers) Bonine had another son they named "Charles Bonine" in 1856, shortly before Clark was killed in an accident. This indicates that this Charles Bonine was already dead.
He was recorded on the 1850 US Census as 8 years old, living with his parents and siblings in Pekin, Tazewell County, Illinois, USA.[1]
