Biography

Trijntje was born on October 29, 1868 in Zijpe, North Holland.^[1] She was the daughter of Klaas Schouten and Maartje Twisker.

Trijntje married Gerrit Evers, born in Ursem, 22 years old, visser (fisherman), on May 15, 1890 in Harenkarspel.^[2]

Gerrit, Trijntje, and their infant daughter immigrated to the USA on the "SS Schiedam", arriving in New York in May 1891. Final destination is listed as 'Kensington' (Chicago, Illinois).^[3] Neeltje passed away soon after their arrival in Chicago.^[4]

Gerrit and Trijntje (now Katherine) settled in Chicago. They had 2 more children, Nellie, b. July 1892, and Clarence, b. April 1897.^[5][6][7]

Katherine passed away on September 8, 1928 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois and was buried at Cedar Park Cemetery.^[8]
