Col. Robert Patterson . 1818-1901 . Senator in W.V. in 1870 to 1872 . Looking for portrait or Photo.

If I'm repeating my posts I'm sorry . Posted in Request for Volunteers and not sure if it;s seen by other categories . Most of my personal family history was lost to the floods of the Ohio in 1913 . I'm looking for any information or photo/portrait of Col. Robert Patterson of St Marys , W.V. He was born around Point Pleasant or Mount Pleasant , Jefferson County  Ohio . He Graduated law school at 19 and was Justice of the Peace for Mt Pleasant sometime in 1830's . He moved To Saint Marys , Pleasants County , West Virginia . The family was in five history books , yet no portrait or photo's . Col. Patterson was a Lawyer/Judge/Businessman/Mayor in 1880 of St Marys/ State Senator in1870 to 1872. He was married three times and had eight children . Only know of six . Names as follows ,James W , John Arthur , Robert Henry . Archie (died young) All with first wife Jane Wilson Patterson , Sallie was from Harriett Simpson (2nd wife)Sallie married a Dr. William King . Looking for anything but dreaming of a Portrait of Col.Patterson for Christmas .

After four years I did find an image of Col. Patterson . At the Library of Congress, in an newspaper ad giving testimoanial for a Dr. McCoy from Wheeling and Washington , D.C. . Dr. McCoy restored his hearing after having issues with it for thirty years .

You might want to try some of the main important libraries in West Virginia.  Since Col. Robert was an important person, his papers may be kept in archive at one or more of the libraries.

My 3rd great-uncle was a US Representative for Indiana.  There are many archive boxes with his information at the Indiana State Library.  The library staff was kind enough to provide me with copies of photos and family related papers.
