Ernest S. Pugh was born 1 Feb 1909, Ritchie Co., West Virginia. His father was John A. Pugh and his mother Vada Mae Longwell.  He was in World War 2. He died on 11 November 1953, at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg, of an acute coronary occlusion and was to be buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The informant on Death Certificate was Pearlie Pugh.<ref>"West Virginia Deaths, 1804-1999," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NMCB-VGW : accessed 6 January 2015), Ernest S. Pugh, 11 Nov 1953; citing Wood, West Virginia, County Records, 14709, county courthouses, West Virginia; FHL microfilm 1,984,310.</ref>

Ernest Strosey Pugh married Pearlie Frances Stringer in Wood County, West Virginia, on 14 August 1937.  The ceremony was performed by L.K. Mohoney of the "U.B. Church" of Parkersburg.  Ernest's parents were John and Vada Pugh.  Pearlie's were Noland A. and Mabel Stringer.<ref>"West Virginia Marriages, 1780-1970," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FRK4-F5Q : accessed 6 January 2015), Ernest Strosey Pugh and Pearlie Frances Stringer, 1937; citing Wood, West Virginia, United States, , county clerks, West Virginia; FHL microfilm 580,564.</ref>

John A. Pugh married Nevada May Longwell in Wood, West Virginia, on 21 December 1905.<ref>"West Virginia Marriages, 1780-1970," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FRV9-Q5X : accessed 6 January 2015), John A Pugh and Nevada Longwell, 1905; citing Wood, West Virginia, United States, , county clerks, West Virginia; FHL microfilm 580,550.</ref>

I have added the info about Ernest to his profile.  It should give you a start on finding him in his paternal family on the census.  You can find the graves for John and Nevada in the same cemetery as Ernest.

If you need more help, please let me know.

You should investigate these two records as they suggest his possible parents might be John A. Pugh and Nevada or Lavada.

Ernest "Jake" Strossie Pugh was my uncle.  My mother, Grace Virginia Pugh Knopp was his youngest sister.  Uncle Jake was born 2/1/1909 in Ritchie Co., WV.  He married Pearly Francis "Frank" Stringer on 8/8/1937.  They had six children, Nancy Faye, Robert Ernest, Joyce Carol, Peggy Mae, Marlene Masel, and your mom, Darlene Mable.  Jake and Francis, Robert and Darlene are all buried in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery located on Progress Ridge, Rt. 50.  I have pictures of all of them as well.  Uncle Jake's parents were John Asa Pugh, and Nevada May Longwell.  Aunt Francis' parents were Nolan Arlist Stringer and Nellie Mable Cline.
