It was suggested that I give more information about my Owens family, I do not have any confirmation telling me who my grandfather Owens is, All I really know is that my surname is Owens, my fathers surname is Owens and that my grandmother married a man named William Owens.

Any potential location clues that might help? Often knowing that your father was born, let's say, in the midwest might be useful to start paring down the information. Or approximate ages or dates? From the oldest child, I usually drop back 20 years or so, with a tolerance range of + or - 5 years, and start searching.

So my process on finding unknowns is to start providing my best guesses to narrow down the search, and it generally either proves or disproves my assumptions. If I do half dozen searches with the wrong assumptions and I get nothing or end up on a wild goose chase, I figure I learned to at least eliminate that path for now and to hunt in a different direction. Occasionally this is a bad way to go, as it involves leaping to a judgment and such, but I find that at least 50-60% of the time, I discover something useful - either in the negative or positive.

Hello Donald, I made a profile for William Owens (Owens-3572) and for Carrie Myers (Myers-5440). I put links to all of the G2G postings I could find regarding William in his bio. It is incomplete but there are clues and some records to follow. I connected his Carrie's Myers line to another in the 1600s. You can check the sources and add more as it is just a start. In the future when you ask about William on G2G please provide a link to his profile in the question so that all of the clues and evidence are in one place. Let me know if you need more help, I'm here!

I have a pretty big tree for my Carrie E Myers, one ancestor was Richard Williams who arrived in the Plimoth Colony in about 1635. As fo William Owens, I  have two possibilities, an 1881 Wm and an 1869 Wm, I can't say for sure that either one is my grandfather as I have yet to find evidence with either one appearing on a document with my grandmother Carrie Myers.
I see you still did not link your father's profile to his parents.... would you like assistance?
For all I know his father was unknown.

Navigating wikitree is making me crazier.

You have stated more than once that his father was named William Owens.  I have invested several hours on more than one day to try and help you, however you have chosen to not employ any of the tips or instructions given.

Profiles have been made for your father's parents here on WikiTree.  You should connect them as his parents, add whatever you find to them, and continue.

Currently you have nothing to "navigate" with just three profiles.  Once you connect as described above you will be able to add more relatives and information.

If you will not follow this advice I will not be able to help you, and likely nobody else will either.

I truly hope you decide to make the most out of wikitree and of the advice given to you several times over.

All the best,

Robert
