Ever since I first started doing family research 6 years ago, there has been a big piece of the puzzle missing. In the end of the 1800's basically all of my paternal great uncles and their only little sister left for America. I have finally a few months ago managed to narrow down where some of them went once they took their first steps on American soil, but once again their trail goes cold. A very common surname in combinations with equally common given names and a lack of details on immigration records has really (like we say here in Sweden) "put canes in the wheels". I know for a fact that there was descendants because there was American family visiting Sweden in the 70's but no one can recall who these visitors was, the only detail I squeezed out of my aunt is that the guy visiting was on his way home from Germany where he had been stationed, so I know there is a military connection, but perhaps most young men served in the US military in that point of time. The details I have managed to collect thus far and in order of emigration is as following:
Nils Johansson (possibly Niels Johnson)
Born: 2 Sep 1868 Harlösa, Skåne, Sweden.
Last address: Västerstad 19, Västerstad, Skåne, Sweden (1878)
Emigration: 10 Jun 1886 from Malmö, Skåne, Sweden via Copenhagen, Denmark on a steamer with the White Star (Hvita Stjernan) line.
Final destination: Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota.
Age: 17
Per Johansson (possibly Per Johnson)
Born: 10 Apr 1870 Östraby, Skåne, Sweden.
Last address: Västerstad 19, Västerstad, Skåne, Sweden (1878)
Emigration: 5 May 1887 from Malmö, Skåne, Sweden via Copenhagen, Denmark on a steamer. Final destination; Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota.
Age: 17
Parents:
Johan Svensson born 24 Jun 1839 in Harlösa, Skåne, Sweden
Elna Jönsdotter born 8 Apr 1847 in Harlösa, Skåne, Sweden
I was hoping for some marriage records that hopefully record the parents name to be able to pin them down as the right Johnson. Immigration and census records that I have found often includes an age or estimated birth year which makes it hard to differentiate one Swedish Johnson from another.

Due to every other sibling having left for America it seems more than likely he did as well without informing the parish clerk about his plans.
There was two brothers left behind in Sweden who was subsequently put in foster housing after the father died in 1893 and the mother was left to fend for herself. These two brothers was named Bror Martin Johansson born 1888 and my great grandfather Aron born 1891. Both of which got married and had children of their own.
I would appreciate any help or advice on how to find reliable sources to find out what happened to my great uncles and aunts. I have tried Ellis Island records, census records with both Ancestry (back when I had a subscription) and with FamilySearch. I have also tried to find clues via Findagrave and Billiongraves. There has been some possibilities of matches but without enough details to confirm a match, so I am pretty much lost.
