Malcom Johnston  Smith b.1826 & Barbara Youngclaus b. 1826 married in Shetland & moved to the United States & had this son in Wisconson, United States.  Any way to find out his exact birth date & also to see of John M. Smith is related to any others on this list?  Not sure of his second name but know it starts with N.

His middle name is Nichols. Birth date listed as Sept 1864. His grandfather's name was Nichol.

Thank you so much.  Is there any relevanat Census data on this family.  Nicol was definitely his grandfather's name - a Nicol Smith b. in Shetland who came to the US with his father Malcolm J Smith.  Both parents died in Lime Springs, Howard, IA, USA with Malcom being Nicol's son.

Am still looking for more information on this James Nichol Smith. .  Know he married a girl called Oneida L. but no last name & they had 6 children being:

Lew I Smith b. 1890, Bessie B. Smith b. 1994, Helen B. Smith b. 1898

Marjorie Smith b 1906. Charles V Smith b. 1909 & Bernice Smith b.1912
