Encouragement and sad parting.

I will disconnect my internet March 20, 2015. I have no way to print the tons of data I've received (I never had time to put it on my tree).

I will miss all of you, sadly I can't follow links after the 19th.

I am Church, Poston, Stansbury, Gorsuch, Brown, Williamson. I wish you all the best. Wi Ki Tree is a lovely concept-keep it going.

I was able to get to 1066 on one side; 1395 on another. Everybit of it well cited.

Thanks Mags, I had to create a quest account to get back in! Please don't be sad, you guys so rock!!

Got some good advice, set up a free email account. This netbook is WiFi, hot spots everywhere-I'll just have to learn how to use them safely...laugh

Ok, got Gmail. How do I make the red lock on my original account go away?blush

Hey Barbara,

I don't see a "Red Block" on your origianl account.  Can you elaborate?  Do you mean the Red Provaicy setting?  Mags
Yes, the red lock. My original account was P-375. I emaied another address I have  and invited me to the tree, when I click on the message for the link reply to add myself (hoping I could get the red lock off)  it says the invitation is not for me.

I'm getting some replys to that email address. It is the address the WiKi tree and G2G originally went to. I emailed Tami, with the new Gmail address, but have not heard back..
Hey Barbie - yes I think emailing Tami is the right way to go at this point.  She can help you get all the email issues cleared-up and the profiles sorted out.  Mags
No worries Barbie, Tami will se your email.  Mags
OK, Poston-284 needs to go away. I'm now 282. My mother shows as her own sister both places. I'm afaid if I change my email I'll lose the work I've done. I invited and approved myself from the new email address. Not sure if it created another profile for me!
I am back! I'll need some help, I am entering as fast as I can, will put citations in when I double check for errors. I miss keystrokes sometimes. I was wondering if someone has done work on the Church, Eller, Frazier lines. I'm a bit stumped, thought I had it, but it appears what I got from a headstone is misleading. I read there are two Church lines, no idea how to connect or look for a tree.

I do wonder how I cite what I have when I have are original dcuments, letters, stories handed down. etc..

I have a duplicate, I mispelled, but same person. No idea how to fix, I added him as Lewis T. Stansbury-should be Lewis Tillary Stansberry..

Hello Barbara, sorry, to hear you will be leaving us.  Don't know if, either of the things I am going to suggest will help you out or not, but here goes.  Public Libraries now have access to computer's and most of them even in small town's have a genealogy library section.  You can set up an email account on one of their computer's and remain with wikitree, without it costing you anything.  The other suggestion I have is to put (or) save your information on a flash drive.  Then you can add the things to your family tree or print them out when you are ready to do so at the library as well.  Hope, these ideas help you out.  I wish you all the best.  Hope, to hear from you again saying that you understand what I am saying and they will work for you.  I don't always word things right so hope I didn't confuse you.  Barbara Jean

Thanks, our library has a waiting line for computers, you only get 30 minutes. Anything you print is a dime a page, most folks just grab your stuff off the printer when they grab theirs. ???? How could I have an email address with having an ISP?
Barbie,  Yes, most libraries are that way.  Some give you an hour.  Check to see if your library has a genealogy room tucked away somewhere.  If not check with your local county library.  In the county libraries you sign in and you can stay all day doing research and using the same computer.  They also have a printer in the genealogy libraries and once some one learns what family you are researching most people check the papers before they leave the printer to see that they only have their own paper's.  Most people in a genealogy library will either bring your paper's to you when they find them or turn them into the librarian.  If, not you can also do what I do at times, granted it is more time consuming, but collect them from the printer once you have printed a few.  After you are done, with all your work take them to the librarian and pay for all of them then.
All I havve is a County Library, it is a 'Branch' of 4 counties. Only 8 of us lived in this State. 4 from Tenneessee, Poston's, 4 from NC, Church's (originally). Only myself and my brother were born in this State (SC).
You can have an email address without an ISP by signing up with one of the free services like Yahoo (yahoo.com) or Google (gmail.com).  I have both and could not even tell you what the email address is that comes from our ISP is because I never use it.
Thanks! I'll just have to be a new user again!
Once you get a free email like Yahoo or Google, let Tami@wikitree.com know that you have an account here, just a different email address.

I have a kindle that I use in coffee shops ( even McDonald's has free WiFi internet) to check my Wikitree account when I am away from home. If you live near a university or college, they also let you have a guest account for the internet.

Thanks everyone. I have gmail...laugh

Thank you Maggie, I started to reply with that information when our power, along with everything else, went out.  It just shows that we have several people willing and able to take over helping someone when the need arises.
One year later, here's an idea that might be a source of assistance...  How about finding "hidden" (computer) resources at someone in your "local" genealogical society.  Or, maybe there is a local computer user's group that would have members  who are willing to help.
