Joseph & Lizzie Bennett dates/place of death-Birth Record Herman L Kimmel

Question

Thank you so much  for responding to my ast question !!  I did see Herman L Bennett in the 1900& 1910  census, then Herman Kimmel in1920 census but am unsure if it is really him -

 

 I was searching trying to find how Joseph & Lizzie died or the approximate dates of their deaths? -My father always told me there was an accident of some kind and the Kimmel's , their good friend's Herman L Bennett - -( I do know though that maybe years ago stories could have been made up of why a child was adopted - maybe his parent's couldn't care for him??)

 

looking at the 1920 census'of the Kimmel's it does show their other 2 son's birthplaces as Missouri, but my Grandpa, Herman L. (Bennett) Kimmel, Little Rock -  

 

It looked to me like Lizzie died in 1920, but that would have made my grandpa about 19, and at that point he had already been adopted by the Kimmels and was out west, probably starting his adult life - My grandma, his wife was Marie Kirk Kimmel.  I know where they are buried here in Seattle, but there is no grave marker.  Any other tips you could give me I would appreciate.

 

 I was trying to find christening records, as I believe he was a catholic, but haven't been able to trace any in Little Rock.

I found a Herman L. Bennett born in Little Rock living with parents Joseph and Lizzie...

Christine, I might have misunderstood, please forgive me.

In both of the Census I posted above they show Herman living with his parents Joseph and Lizzie Bennett in Little Rock.  

Is this correct?

Thanks Robert for helping me - I do appreciate it because I am just starting on tracing Herman - It does seem to me that you are right - Joseph Leroy Bennett & Lizzie McGuire Bennett are his parents which is very exciting to me.  But I feel stumped because I can't locate a birth or christening record for Herman L Bennett -

and I can't find death dates for Joseph Leroy Bennett - I think I  found the one for Lizzie in 1920 - My dad told e there was an accident of some kind, of Herman's real parent's but I couldn't seem to find a way to search local newspapers...

I did find on one of the census' that J. Leroy Bennett was a policeman?  But I haven't been able to verify

If you have any ideas on how I can track down any of my questions above I would really appreciate it but I am sure you are busy so no rush - I just hope someday to have some answers - thank you again

Frank - Thank you so much for your help - I appreciate you listing these census records for me - It really helps me sort things out -

Because my Grandpa had the name change to Kimmel, I know that the Herman L Bennett who married Ruthe Rogers can't be my grandpa -

My grandpa Herman L (Bennett) Kimmel married Marie Kirk Kimmel.  I do know now though for sure, some reason he was adopted by Kimmel's from Missouri  that I saw in one of the census' that showed his names change to Kiimmel, but birthplace of Little Rock  Eventually he married my grandma, then had 3 sons, the eldest of which was my father, Herman K Kimmel.

Wayne - thanks much for this information - you are correct that these are Herman's adoptive parent's and this does help me - I wonder if around 1910, if adoption records were filed very often?  I can't seem to trace a birth certificate for Heman L. Bennett that matched up to my Grandpa, but I thought maybe somewhere out there could be an adoption record - if you have any ideas I would appreciate your input but no rush as I am sure you are busy   thanks again
