John Slater m. Clara Smith ... any information?

John Slater married a Clara Smith (born in Wales).  He had a cotton farm in Northern Carolina and moved to Canada, settling in the St Lawrence region of Canada.  They had a daughter Alice Slater.(born 1908 approx).  Can anyone find any information on John and or Clara? Thank you very much! Debi (their great granddaughter)

I find a John Slaler with wife Clara and daughter Alice b. 1908 living in Manitoba, which is where Alice was born in March 1908. Could this be the same family? If so, there is lots more.
