Would my family DNA help find source relatives in another country?

Would my family DNA test help find  relatives in another country who might be able and willing to find our connective ancestors? I am in the USA and looking for ancestors  named Horsington in England or Wales. The American branch came over in the 1600s.

The spellings in the USA have varied quite a bit.

Ebenezer,

Techically YES,  depending on how you approach this.  Let me address this from my prospective as a member of The GIBBS Surname DNA Project.  The DNA has allowed us to Prove relationships that we didn't have paper to support  ~and~ eventually when enough Gibbes-Gibbs in the UK test will give me an area to research further.  Several of our project members have reached out to UK Gibbs and asked them to partitipate,  which has proved that "Paper" Alignments aren't supported by the DNA.

Hi,

I am working on the Hoisington/Horsington families on both sides of the pond.  You are welcome to look at the information I have on my website, hoisington-horsington.com.  It requires registration but that is only to keep hackers out.  BTW, I also have a Facebook page, Hoisington/Horsington Genealogy Forum, on which there are 200+ members, some of whom have had their DNA done and uploaded to Gedmatch.com
