Frederick Dage, Alsace Lorraine

I have hard copy records that say the first Dages (Frederick (1736-1796) and his two brothers, one named Michael) came over from "the border of France and Germany" in 1764. I was told that they were from Alsace-Lorraine by one of my parents as well, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good way I could go about looking for their ancestors. Some of the documents I have spell their name Dags, Dague and Tague which doesn't help either.

On the profile you created for Lewis Siever Dage you haven't selected which records  pertain to him and it will help to sort that out.  Maybe one of his parents will be mentioned in a record that has not yet been uncovered.

I just entered a lot of information on 'Frederick Deg'  which seems to be the same person. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Deg-1

"He evidently had friends at Lancaster for the Trinity Lutheran Church records show that Frederick Dague "from Weyler in Durlach", now Karlsruhe, Baden, married June 22-1755 Sophia Schmidt "from Gut(t)enstein", Wurttemberg, 20 km northeast of Tuttlingen. Two children were born, in 1757 and 1758. Sophia died about 1759 and on August 12-1760 Frederick married (Anna) Mary Geysler. Two more children are listed, in 1761 and 1762."

Do you have any hints at what town they were from? All three départements (Moselle, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin) are putting church books on line, but without knowing the parish it would be looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack.
