Is there proof that Leander E Cobb was a son of William Cobb in Burke County?

I am attempting to help my daughter get into DAR.  I have found all the supporting evidence of lineage except a "proven" tie between Leander Ervin Cobb and William Halsey Cobb.  William is son of the patriot Clisby Cobb.  William was born in 1790 in Burke County and Died on 03 Sep 1839 in Lincolnton, Lincoln County NC.  Leander was born on 24 Feb 1810 in Burke County and died on 2 May 1879 in Greene County, Ill.  I am running low on options, however; I see alot of assumptions that Leander is William's son.  I just cannot find the supporting document.

This is in fact true information; however, there is no legal or binding information "linking" the 2 induviduals together.
