Wiltshire and Nelson connection.

Question

I have a sizeable Sumner (Sumpner, Somner) tree based in villages in Wiltshire, UK.

I would like to know if there is any connection with the Sumners in the Nelson area.

There doesn't seem to be any connection between the question and the answer.

 

For those who don't understand the question, I'll reword it.

There is a large family group of Sumners who lived in the Wiltshire county going back to the 1400's.   There are also a large group of Sumners in the Nelson-Lancashire area.  Is this a coincidence or are they in some way related, taking into consideration the two areas are some 200 miles apart, and in those days few people would have even strayed out of their own village.
