Sourcerer's Challenge Update, July 8, 2015

The Sourcerer's Challenge started off with a bang-thank you to everyone who has been participating so far. Right now, Karen Tobo is leading the way with 86(!) profiles improved with sources. Have you joined us yet?

Even if you aren't interested in a shiny new badge, take 10 minutes, check out the Unsourced category and see who you can get out of there. I was able to add a source to a cache of about 35 profiles in my own family line after a random email earlier this week. They weren't in the category but should have been. Not much time at all, and they are all in much better shape.

Can't find sources? Help by applying the Unsourced template-this brings those without sources to others' attention so sources can be sought out.

To join in July's challenge, be sure to post your contributions in the July thread and read through some of the finer details.

Perfect timing:  Here's an additional challenge.  It's regarding Surnames, One Name Studies AND ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT local genealogy resources and related categories!!!

See: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Lockhart_Name_Study

1.Add the template to a  Lockhart [insert any name] profile ONLY those whose last name at birth was Lockhart (so no wives who became a Lockhart by marriage)

2.Add the location of the Lockhart [insert any name] in the following format: This County, State, Lockharts IF it comes up RED then that location/category hasn't been created...either let ME know or I will watch the "wanted categories" section and will take care of it. NOTE: the commas, punctuation are all important. If you have one letter off, it won't set up correctly...I can fix them as long as the profiles aren't restricted via the privacy setting.

3.If you find any information/websites that pertain to the area/location for Lockharts [insert any name] or the location add the links to the respective category page so that others can benefit...that's another reason I wanted to set this project up this way. Not only does it better able folks to find relationships in a location, but it also gives me a parking place for specific resources to benefit everyone else in their research...I'd so often put a resource on a profile but it applied to multiple other people but unless someone had a reason to look at that specific profile it doesn't benefit anyone...this way it's sort of up there. For example see: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Anson_County%2C_North_Carolina%2C_Lockharts AND also http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Anson_County%2C_North_Carolina%2C_Surnames AND also: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Anson_County%2C_North_Carolina%2C_Genealogy_Resources Now it looks complex, but just let me know when you find something and I can set it up and add it...it's again just an infant but I really think that this will help researchers everywhere.

Please, those that are involved in the Category project, take a look at the above categories.  I started the cemetery break down, it's taken off to other regions around the world, but specifically here at WikiTree.  It will make this site the BEST ever start location in this world.  Thanks Chris.

I tried to add more to this list but it was not allowed because I must have exceeded  8000 characters. What happens next?
Hi Al,

Just noticed this since it came on a comment to your own answer. You can add to your list by commenting on the answer to add more until it maxes out each time. See the original Sourcerer's post to see how others did it. Thanks for all the hard work!

Added some {{Unsourced|Netherlands}} tags, a lot of pre-1700 in the list at this moment: not my cup of tea.
