Orlan Ray Murphy

Question

I am the daughter of Orlan Ray Murphy from Gassaway, WV. His parents were William Edward Murphy and Edith Zell Dean. I haven't seen my father since I was 2 years old and he passed away in 1994. I am looking for any information on the Murphy family.

Dear Lori,

      A free search on FamilySearch.org records gave a marriage for William E. Murphy & Edith Dean.  The date was 25 August 1929, in Gassaway, West Virginia.  It says he was age 25, born in Clay, WV.  She is age 22, born in Braxton, WV.

    One child for this couple is shown there, who died at a young age.  Spencer Doyle Murphy was born on Sept. 28, 1928 and died on May 23, 1939.

    I suggest you search the 1940 US Federal Census (which is free) for this family in Gassaway.
