Convergence of Barker lines in England.

I am descended from David Barker, b 1731, and his wife Sarah Barker (her maiden name), b. 1737. They are my 5th great grandparents. Each descended form different lines of Barkers, both from England. Once I trace their lines back into England, there becomes some cofusion and overlap (and a lot of Richard Barkers). interested in working with anyone who is inclined to help sort all this out. The surnames Mawle and Abbes show up along with both lines of Barkers in England in the 1500s and earlier.

Hello David

Barker is a fairly common surname and England is not as small as you might think - you might get a better response to your question if you can give a few more details.

Do you know the county that they came from or the town, for instance?
