Who is BenTzion Turin

Question

Ida Miriam Blehert is my grandmother. The page says it was created by a Bentzion from a gedcom file. When I tried to contact him the message came to one of my email accounts. I don't know if I created this page, I don't remember. If this information was "harvested" without permission, I don't want it here. I see no accountability. Who are you?

I don't know Bentzion, but if you leave a message on their profile page they will be most likely to receive it.  I hope they respond to you promptly and favorably :)

To set your mind at ease, it does look like everything on your grandmother's profile is respectful and honors her.  The information appears to be all public record and there is no private information displayed.  In this case nothing appears to have been harvested or in need of any permissions.

I see that Bentzion hasn't contributed to WikiTree in over eighteen months. If you would like to join us and collaborate to improve the information added about your family members, that would be great!.You can then send Bentzion a trusted list request for Ida's profile and any others you'd like to improve. If he doesn't respond promptly, we have a process to transfer profile management when someone has moved on to other interests and is no longer actively contributing.

When you sent the private message to Bentzion, you should have received a copy of that message in the inbox of the email address you provided. The first line of the email body says, "This is a copy of a Private Message you sent via WikiTree."

Did you send a message or request to Bentzion? If so, did you receive a response? I also found a name that matches a family member's name in the data uploaded by Bentzion. It looks like Bentzion uploaded over 2000 individuals via GEDCOM on 19-Apr-2013, then did a very minor edit on 17-Jan-2014, and has no activity since. I have requested to join the trusted list for this one individual just so that I can see if it is a match, or only matching name. No response yet from Bentzion.

Is there a way for an admin person to check for me to see if the data matches? If it's not a match, there's no point in me waiting for a response from Bentzion. Who do I contact?

Gary, I believe you should submit an Unresponsive Profile Manager request on the profile of the possible family member. When it is processed, all of the Public profiles Bentzion managed will be opened, and all of the private profiles will be deleted. I don't know if WikiTree staff members can inspect a private profile, as that wouldn't be very private. :)

I don't know if this is still active, but you have the wrong Arthur Statter listed as Max and Leah's son. Based on the dates of birth and death you have my grandfather listed who was Max Statter's nephew. The Arthur Statter who was their son was a well known trumpet player. He was born in Philadelphia and worked in New York before moving to Seattle, where he died in 2004. He was born in 2014. The two Arthurs were first cousins but did not know each other.
