Thomas Coleman of Wethersfield, Connecticut and Hadley, Massachusetts, born about 1598 in England (possibly Evesham, Worcestershire), and was buried at Hadley 1 Oct 1674.

He married (2nd as a widower of Unknown wife with four children), Frances Wells (born Albright) October 13, 1625 in All Saints, Alcester, Warwickshire, England. She was the widow Wells. There is a disputed marriage to Frances Wells (born Belcher) who is disputed to be actually Frances (Albright) Wells.

Thomas Coleman of Newbury, Hampton and Nantucket was born about 1602, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. He immigrated in 1635 on the ship James and settled first at Newbury, Massachusetts, about 1659 at Hampton, Massachusetts and about 1663 at Nantucket Island, where he died by 1 Aug 1682.

He married 24 Nov 1623, Susan Rualines, and they had nine children.

children: Dorothy, Dorcas m. John Tillotson, Hannah, Thomas, Tobias m. Lydia Jackson, Benjamin, Joseph m. Ann Bunker, John m. Joanna Folger, Isaac.

Second, 16 July 1651 he married the widow Mary Johnson, who had children from her marriage to Edmund Johnson. Third, Thomas Coleman married Margery Fowler, widow of Christopher Osgood and Thomas Rowell. As widow of Thomas Coleman she married Thomas Osborne. The 2nd and 3rd marriages have no children listed for Thomas Coleman.

and other sources listed on profiles.

I am one of the persons who completed a merge of Thomas Coleman and his wives that should not have been done, and regret I didn't pay more attention to dates and locations. For the Profile Managers of the listed profiles, please join this collaboration to sort out the profiles.

1. We need to identify which profile would be best for Thomas of Hadley and which for Thomas of Nantuckett. Done 24 Aug by Darlene Athey Thanks Darlene

2. We need to get the children assigned to the correct fathers and mothers. Done 24 Aug by Darlene Athey thanks Darlene!

3. We need to get the sources assigned to the correct profiles. (April working on this 24 Aug)

4. Once the two Thomas Colemans are assigned their individual final profile ID#s, we need to merge the duplicates into those, because there are currently five profiles for Thomas. Coleman-405 is a mixture of both. Coleman-939 and Coleman-4753 are of Hadley. Coleman-410 and Coleman-1290 are of Nantucket. -410 and -1290 merged into -405 by Darlene Athey. Thanks Darlene April will work on the other Coleman merges.

5. Frances Albright wife of Coleman of Hadley is represented by two diverse profiles and we have the sources to determine her true identity, which should be discussed so they can merged. April will work on this.

UPDATE:

Thomas Wells-375 and "Hugh" Thomas Wells-123 are not necessarily the same person, and Frances Belcher and Frances Albright are not necessarily the same person. Now that the rest of the Thomas Coleman, and Frances Albright -  widow of Wells and wife of Coleman - it is beginning to look like two different families that were combined.

So my best recommendation at this time is to sort what belong to Thomas and Frances (Albright) Coleman into their family, and not try to make Frances Belcher and her husband Thomas Coleman into the same people. There is still a need for good sources on Frances Belcher and her husband.

Thomas Coleman of Nantucket is my 9th great-grandfather on my dad's side.  Heck, half of the families in Nantucket are my direct lines since they all intermarried!

I have three marriages for him:  Susannah Raulines on 24 Nov 1623; Mary (widow of Edward Johnson) on 11 Jul 1651; Margery Fowler (after 1663).

For his second marriage (Mary), I have a daughter Dorcas born 2 Jan 1654 (ref: http://www.colmancopywriting.com/assets/textfiles/Peter_Colman_Writing_Samples.pdf - 5 Jan 2011).

For his third marriage (Margery), I have a daughter Joanna (DOB unknown) (ref: Nantucket, A History, by R. A. Douglas-Lithgow, publ. 1914 by G.P. Putnam's Sons).

I have a total of ten children for him.

I've started by removing the children that are NOT the children of Thomas of Nantucket.  They are attached to Frances (Belcher) Wells so you can still find them...

O.K.  I've got Thomas Coleman of Nantucket (Coleman-405) cleaned up.  I merged Coleman-410 and Coleman-1290 into him, deleted the wrong spouse & children, merged the two Susannahs.  I added a few of his children, but not all.
Thank you for the sources for the children of the 2nd and 3rd marriages for Coleman of Nantucket, Darlene, and thanks for all the work on the profiles!! You've  untangled the confusion, and given me the notes to work on the rest. Million thanks!!
