I'm trying to locate the parents of Margaret Jane Melton who was born in 1737 in South Carolina and married Enoch Floyd in 1764? She is listed in some of the research as a daughter to a Sarah Scivill and Richard Floyd. If that is so she marries her half brother!!!

One search on FamilySearch.org has Margaret Jane Milton, daughter of  Unknown Milton (father), no mother info listed.

This search has her married to Enoch Floyd 1735-1795, marriage listed as about 1758. (They also had Enoch Floyd as son 1760-1801)

His father is listed as Richard Floyd II, his father Richard Floyd III. No Sarah as either's wife.

Not sure where Scivill is??? If I search for Sarah Scivill shows her married to Richard Daws.

I used dogpile and found the following:

David Floyd

David Floyd, 1761 - 1827

David Floyd was born in 1761, at birth place, South Carolina.

David married Margaret Jane Floyd (born Norman) in 1789, at age 28 at marriage place, South Carolina.

Margaret was born in 1764, in Cross Keys, Union, South Carolina, USA.

They had 10 children: Margaret Peggy Reeves (born Floyd), Peggy Floyd and 8 other children.

David passed away in 1827, at age 66 at death place, Tennessee.

I also located this on a message board from 2003.

I do know that our Floyd's do have some connection to Union Co SC as David, son of Enoch married Jean Norman daughter of George Norman and Margaret Dodd in Cross Keyes, Union Co SC. She was born in 1764 and was member of Padgett's Creek Baptist Church, received by experience on March 14, 1801 and dismissed by letter on Aug. 15, 1806 about the time they left for TN. From the book "A History of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church" it states that my Enoch Floyd Sr born 1737 died in Union Co SC in 1795. His will signed by him on Feb 10, 1793 Spartanburg Co, SC. They also are Quakers thought to be from PA to SC. My best guess is possibly your Eustacia may be daughter of a brother to Enoch?? I know there are Floyd's in Union Co but have yet to connect them all. Enoch and Margaret had known children, David, Jonathan, Enoch Jr, Nathaniel, George, Aaron, Margaret, Samuel. Some of these children moved to TN, GA and KY, the rest stayed in area of Union Co SC.
I'll check my files and see if I have anything on Tacy or David Jones.

Thanks for the info on your Alva's wife which I didn't have. There certainly are several of you descendants of David, son of Enoch and Margaret that are into genealogy and believe I may have spoken with you some time ago. Have you been able to find out anymore on the parentage of our common ancestor, Enoch Sr. or his birthplace? Still uncertain of maiden name of wife, Margaret being either Milton or White. The White's are in the area of SC but can't find any Milton/Melton's as yet.
In the message from Allen Jones I see his surnames are Bethel, Cantrell, Floyd etc and I have long tried to connect a Jonathan Floyd that married Tabitha Bethel to my line without success. My 4th g.gf was Jonathan Floyd that married Sally Gentry in Spartanburg, SC. Her parentage is a hard find also.

The only references I have to Enoch Sr's wifes maiden name (besides all the 'researchers' remarks) are two:
In "uncle William Floyds Memories" he mentions children of Enoch Floyd and Anna Shook Floyd including "Milton, (for his great grandmother, maiden name). Actually, this was David Milton but apparently called Milton as there were so many Davids.
The other comes from the book by the Marshs "Soldiers of the Revolution in Bedford County" page 78. In a short article about David Floyd SR there is a quote from a letter stating Davids parents were Enoch Floyd ans Margaret Milton Floyd.
I have an ancestor named Joseph Milton Floyd. There are other Milton names apparently in the line but no Whites.
Is this proof????? I think it is about as much as one can find at present.
There seemed to be other Enoch Floyds in SC about that time and maybe one of them is the on that married the White.
