How many wives?

"Sir John Arthur Harris" (not his real name) has one wife, Percy-48.

But go into Edit mode and he's got 2 wives.  He also has 2 at the top of his Descendancy tree.

The other one is Percy-600.  They both exist and are set as Unmerged Matches.

Yes I know the dates don't work, the genealogy is suspicious, the Thomas Percys are duplicated etc.

But I'm still worried about the off-and-on marriage.

check "edit marriage" (or whatever brings up the window that has marriage date/place in it) for the "off-again" wife. Probably the box to hide the marriage is checked. That box is intended only for use by the living (e.g., someone divorced, or widowed, who doesn't want to see their spouse's name everywhere). I spent a couple of hours recently trying to find the profile for my ancestor's wife (proven - marriage date & everything, and adm. for his will). Someone had hidden it. <sigh>

You're right of course.  And it doesn't show up as "Husband of" on the Family Tree, but it appears in the Family Group Sheet and Descendants list.

There must be other ways of dealing with exes.  Perhaps they could be greyed out or crossed out or blobbed out or mangled in some way.
