Attention Southern Colonies project members and Barbados researchers:

At http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/180811/english-source-refers-parker-england-massachusetts-source?show=180811#q180811 a few of us have been having an amazing interaction that started out focused on two men in London and their brother who was an early migrant to Massachusetts, but that rapidly took us to Barbados and coastal North Carolina and Virginia -- and that I expect can extend into the inland southern U.S. Before the G2G disappears into the archives, I want to spread the word beyond our little group.

If you've ever worked on histories for people with the surname Parker in any of those places; or Pearnell/Parnell in Barbados; or if you have any experience with Currituck County, North Carolina; or you've ever run across a record for a man with the given name Azricam or Azrikam (or a woman with the given name Fearnot); you may be in a very good position to make interesting new connections for this far-flung (and well-connected) family -- and possibly help resolve some family mysteries that have been vexing you. Other surnames include Stevens/Stephens/Stevans, Portwood, and possibly O'Neal and Taylor.

Thanks for starting this new thread. My compilation of Parkers of Currituck County, North Carolina is growing to include additional surnames, including:

  • Barrott or Barrett
  • Brown
  • Gamewell
  • Gregory
  • Midgett
  • O'Neal
  • Portwood
  • Stevens
  • Taylor
Alot of NC wills are online, enabling us to hypothesize some relations that then just need confirming. It's a VERY FUN puzzle.
Thanks Ellen. My step father is a Parker. They came from England to Mass. This will be fun.
I have a marriage record source found on Family Search, with microfiche:

Barbados Church Records,St John  Church of England

John Parnel    Marriage    19 Mar 1660    St John, Barbados    Male                    Fearnot Parker    Female

if it would be helpful.  I didn't see a marriage source listed.

Thanks Ellen,

I added the Southern Colonies and Barbados tags to the other post from Jack.  Hopefully it will now be easily found as it relates to the Southern Colonies and Barbados!

Thanks very much for this!

I do not know if it is any connection but I am researching my family and have Parker back to 1811 and Parnell back to1798 in my ancestry .I also came across this but have not linked it :-

Mr G Parnell married Ann Gamble in 1823

MrJ Gamble married Charlotte Parnell 1 Aug 1823

both marriages in the same London Area

ps do you have any fingers or Toes shortening as I am stuck between Parker my G Grandfather  & Heard my G Grandmother  from my Mothers side.
