Correction badly needed on this profile: Hopkins-4691.

Would someone please take a look at Hopkins-4691 and see if we can straighten out the dates?  I contacted the profile manager on Sept 24th but have not heard a word from him.  This person is on my family tree and I would like to see a correction. The profile states he was born 1670, his wife was born 1577 and his children were all born between 1616 and 1622!  Interesting trick and one for the biology books!

I have information that he DIED ca 1650, but I don't have a concrete source for that info....

Thanks so much!

I'll have a look.  From what you've stated, my guess is it's a typographical error (i.e. 1670 should be 1570)...  I've changed his DOB to 1570.  If you have any reliable sources for dates, feel free to change them and list the source on the profile.

We don't know the birth place, date or parents of the husband of Joana Arnold.

Nicholas Hopkins and Mary Poole were invented in a book.  The real Mary Poole died childless before 1536.  See them at their section here:

http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.hopkins/5435/mb.ashx

None of the siblings listed for him are related to each other by any document and there's something wrong with each of them.  If know know anything about Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower you'll notice the errors on "John" (Hopkins-3048).

Joana Arnold isn't the "Dudley" woman. That was a big mess.

"Some sources state David Dudley of Dorking, co. Surrey was a son of Robert and that William Dudley, immigrant to Connecticut was David's son.  This has since been proven to be false.  “The English Origins of William Dudley of Guilford, CT” by Martin E. Hollick The American Genealogist 82 (2007):63-75.   David of Dorking had a son William but he stayed in Surrey."

Joana Arnold's & Wm Hopkins' dau Frances didn't marry John Mann and didn't have a dau Mary who married John Hampton.  She married William Mann and had a dau Mary who married John Lapham.

Yes, and I'm descended from Mary Mann and John Lapham. By the way, they had a grandson named Benjamin Lapham who married another woman named Mary Mann! The two Mary's apparently were not related.

Thanks for explaining the complications and thanks to Darleen or fixing the typo.

Ginni
