Looking for Cecilia Keating family west coast new zealand

Question

Cecilia Keating and family lived in Greymouth New Zealand. She was a world renowned violinist who went to study at the Royal College of Music in London in 1943. Other than that I cannot find out much about the family background. I know my family is related but I can't find where. I believe she was married to Major MTS Dew in 1944 and later again to Sir Andrew McKee. However, I cannot find out what happened to either of these two either. Thankyou for any assistance. I am Ceclia Keating niece ... But can't help with any connection between our families. Cecelia left NZ in 1936 and returned in the early 60s

Cecelia had no children with Major Dew, who returned to the Wellington area after the war ... This marriage was never talked about, in fact young Ceal and myself were only aware of it after her death!

Cecelia and Square (Sir Andrew) returned to NZ in the early 1960s when he retired from the RAF ... He became involved with the then NAC and was knighted for that role.

Cecelia and Square initially resided in Wellington/Hutt area before moving to Waikanae where they lived for many years on a small farm. With her return to NZ Cecelia s music was a bit restricted but she played with a string quartet for some years in the Wellington area.

Cecelia died in Palmerston North approximately 25 years ago ... And so much family history has been lost.

The O Donoghues and descendants are still on the Coast and may be able to help.

Cecelia Tarcille Keating was born on 15 January 1917. After her music career in England she returned to NZ with husband Andrew McKee. They are both buried in Palmerston North. Andrew died on 8 December 1988 and Cecelia on 9 November 1991.

The Blake family were close friends of the Keatings. My father Nelson and his brothers Minden and Doug stayed with them in Kent, England during WW2. I have a letter written by Cecilia (then Lady McKee) from Green Hill Waikanae dated 1971 to my father. I was not aware they were NZers. I would welcome any further information.

my grandmother was alice donaghy from killycurragh co. tyrone

cecilia keating's mother was named odonoghue, her father

was alexander odonoghue or donoghue from ross nz

alexander (donaghy) emmigrated from co tyrone in the 1860's

and was involved with gold mining along with two other donagy(donoghue)

cousins @ the donoghues, ross nz.

whilst in london the keatings visted ireland twice once in 1936

and again in 1946 to attend the funeral of of father louie donaghy

a cousin who died whilst home on holidays from usa.

they stayed at my grandmothers in newry.

i was very interested to learn that you were a friend whilst

they lived at seven oaks. i am putting together as much

research on my family that i can find and i would be

delighted to hear any information that you may have.

any anecdotes that help to let us know them would

be great to hear.

Thankyou for answering my request. However, I seem to have lost my answer I just prepared so will do another!

I understand that Cecelia and family are related to my mothers family. My grandmother was Catherine (Kit) Mary Flynn (1889-1953) nee Ferriter from Waimate.

Catherine was known to speak of Cecelia often as a relative but I cannot find the connection? My mother is Cecily Flynn and I am John Morris. I have found a lot of information whilst looking off and on and found that the McKee's had lived quite close to my family in Wellington.

My name is Kate, and Lady Cecelia McKee was my grandmother. I have as much information as you like! And I have most of the records of her and Andrew's life here in my house, including diaries, photos, and everything else I salvaged out of my Mother's estate when she passed away.
Please let me know if you would like to get in contact. I'm still in contact with Lady C's friends as well, and can possibly ask them to fill in any gaps.
