The Huguenot Migration Project and Collaborative Profile of the Week Present

Dr. Pierre Louis Chastain

Dr. Peter Chastain has been accepted by the Huguenot Society. He settled in Manakintown settlement, Virginia.

  1. His profile has a nice start, but could use a proper bio.
  2. More sources, attached to facts. The timeline is great, but where did those facts come from? Can sources be attached? If you don't know how to do inline sourcing, you can add the source material inside ( ) and someone will fix them.
  3. He has family attached, work on these profiles would also be appreciated
  4. Are there other categories?
  5. A paragraph on what's a Huguenot would be nice.

As always, make sure to Post a Question here, when you begin work on some aspect of the profile. That keeps us from duplicating effort and keeps the question closer to the top.

Huguenot Migration Project.

According to Wikipedia Huguenots were French Protestants inspired by the writings of John Calvin. Due to religious persecutions, they left France to go to England, the New World, other European countries, South America and Africa.

The Huguenot Migration Project seeks to identify those profiles of people who were known as Huguenots or French Huguenots who migrated out of France to other countries. After identification the goal is to improve and add them to our growing Global Family Tree.

Thank you.

Added a couple sources.

Added a link to an article about the family. A significant number of members of the Chastain family have developed dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists at Emory University are studying the family to try to find the defective genome in their DNA.

I've been working on Pierre. I more sources to add. I worked on the references over the weekend. I am digging through all the info I've acquired. Will post those soon.

Thank you Michelle, I also noticed you did a little clean up on the profile. Thank you.
I added a reference - the link to the ship lists posted by the Huguenot Society - by the timeline entry that mentions The Mary and Ann.
Thank you Liz. Way to go!
