Who were the parents of CLarence A Hammond, b 9/25/1888 in Ohio?

Clarence Atwood Hammond Sr. was born in 1888 in Ohio, the date September 25th. In 1922 He married Mary Alvina "Marie" Voight. In 1924 they had one child, Clarence Atwood Hammond Jr.  Clarence Sr died in a car-train collision on July 4, 1959 in West Virginia.

His mother was, I believe, Elizabeth Ann "Liizzie" Davis Atwood (1850-1921). His father may have been a John D. Hammond (indicated in one record) or Ellsworth Hammond, suggested in another record. Clarence Sr had several siblings. His heavy-drinking father, I am told, abandoned the family early on,leaving little Clarence Sr to become a family provider at an early age.

I'll be grateful for any new information on my great-grandfather's story.

Clarence A Hammond's marriage record says his father was Elsworth:

This appears to be the family with several children in the 1905 Wisconsin State census, in Mount Pleasant, Racine County:
