Any cemeterists in Sydney, Australia?

I've gotten kind of spoiled with being able to look up grave records on Find A Grave in North America, but apparently that site doesn't cover Down Under so well. I've been trying to source Emanuel (or Emmanuel) Slade, born 1855, died 1927. I found a newspaper clipping saying that he was to be buried in the Presbyterian cemetery at Rookwood, but none of the cemetery listing sites I've tried list him.

(No, I have no idea if he's related to me. I just decided to try focusing on unsourced Slades for the Sourcerer's Challenge. If anybody can help in tracing his family back to England, so much the better.)

Rookwood is not online at the moment and you'd need a tent, food and 3 days to find anyone. :-)

Births, deaths & Marriages NSW has this.

2972/1855 V18552972 42B     SLADE, EMMANUEL.

Parents EMMANUEL & CHARLOTTE.

Online Shipping records has an Emmanuel & family arriving on the ship Hydaspes in 1852. http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/ebook/list.asp?Page=NRS5316/4_4790/Hydaspes_17%20Dec%201852/4_479000322.jpg&No=6

Findagrave does cover Australia, select the country in the drop down list. This is all the Slades, but no Emmanuel. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GSfn=&GSmn=&GSln=slade&GSbyrel=all&GSby=&GSdyrel=all&GSdy=&GScntry=15&GSst=0&GSgrid=&df=all&GSob=n

Awesome work, Tess!

I have always found that finding out which ship somebody migrated on is the hardest part. Once I've found that part, building out the info about the ship itself is usually pretty quick.

Now you have me curious. Found his father's death possibly.

On the 20th of June, of influenza, Emanuel Slade, formerly of Brixton Hill, Surry, England, aged thirty-six years, leaving a wife, seven children, and a large circle of friends to mourn their

loss. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article13042138

His mother's death

SLADE. — March 17, at Wellington, N. S. W., Charlotte Slade, aged 67 years, relict of the late Emanuel Slade. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Rev. 14, 13. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article13671089

I've added those sources to Emanuel Sr.'s profile. THank you for looking them up.

Hi Jess, finding a G2G post about your ancestors is an encouraging way to get started. Welcome to WikiTree!
It's great that you're here, Jess. I hope you can fill out that branch. (I did what I could when I found it, but quickly ran into the limits of my available sources.)

And if it turns out that you and I are distant cousins, so much the better! Welcome to WikiTree!
