What is considered sufficient information for a source?

Question

I was surprised just now, in looking at Wikitree suggestions

for a simple biography with sources

(at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sample-250)

to find the following item given as a source:

Sudbury MA, Sudbury, MA, Vital Records, p. 119

That's all there was: No dates, no repository, no publication data, no url.

How am I supposed to know where to  find those records?

I googled "Sudbury, MA, Vital Records" which brought up a list of paid search sites, nothing official that I could see.

Surely more information is needed!!

I agree that that citation is missing some elements, however I googled it and the printed version was 3 out of the first 6 items. The first item was an online transcription.

I agree. If you do a "WikiTree Free-Space Profile Search", you will find it. There is more information here: Vital Records of Sudbury Massachusetts to the Year 1850 This link provides an example of how to add the information you suggest, and links to multiple free online repositories.

Free-Space pages used for sources can have tags, a location, start and end dates, and can be added to Categories. They also have a "What Links Here" link and a Tursted List. All these things can make it easier for people to find, use, and collaborate on these sources.
