In searching correct parentage or correcting family tree of great grandfather,James Mcdermott, I am now trying to nail down actual siblings....
A sister of his with the possible first name of Mary or Margaret (Mcdermott) married a man with a short last name like Long, Wall, Ward (etc.)...they operated a Union Pacific Railroad hotel in Rock Springs or Evanston Wyoming as early as 1860's or through the 1870's. It caught fire....they had 3 sons. From there I do not know where they went. James & sisters were from Co. Roscommon Ireland...he was born in 1821 and settled in Braidwood Illinois and Wilmington Illinois. I know that some believe he is in the Ballykilcline family of Hugh Mcdermott (have a few names/gender of siblings that don't match that tree). I've read that the railroad was being built in 1868 in Wyoming. If anyone knows of this family or the UPRR hotel I speak of, I would love to hear from you! Thank you for any help! Lynn Coleman
