Looking for source for Jacob Bartholomew 1768-1840

Well, my first request for help with an unsourced person went well, so here's my next request. The subject fellow has a couple of trees on ancestry.com which list 1790, 1820 & 1830 censuses for him, but I'm not sure i trust them to be correct.  They don't match too well with where I'd think he'd be living, and I expect Jacob Bartholomew wouldn't be a particularly rare name.  Can anyone find a better source or proof of where he was living?.

This source covers his line:

The Bartholomew Family, by George Wells Bartholomew, published 1885)
by Doug Lockwood G2G Astronaut (2.7m points)
But be careful.....I have found some significant errors in this text, BUT, to be fair the problems are found in an "unrelated Bartholomew family"  I think it somewhere around page 600......All in all a good resource to get you going, but then prove what you find there.
