Hi, my name is Carrie Carr - as you can probably tell, I'm very new to this, although I've been somewhat assigned as the official genealogist for our family. My paternal line is almost impossible to figure out, since there aren't any people, other than my forgetful aunt (age 78) left to help.

I've done a DNA test, which gave me a few hints, but the Hardin line via my paternal grandmother is pretty much a dead end so far. My aunt swears our Hardin's are cousins to John Wesley Hardin - but I've not found proof as of yet.

I have a ton of photos to scan from my maternal lines of Sorrells/Lockhart Griffin/Borden (most all ended up in Texas). I'm open to help anyone in anyway I can.

I've spent the last few years slogging though stuff on ancestry, and stumbled across a link to wikitree. I'm very excited to join the ranks!

Hi Carrie, thanks for introducing yourself and Welcome to the Tree! If you have questions this is the place to ask them but search the G2G data base first, your question may have already been answered. I hope to see those pictures soon and maybe nominate some for Family History Photo of the Week!

Hello Carrie,

Welcome to WikiTree. G2G is a great place to start. Feel free to ask for help from others to break through that paternal brick wall... there are some here who would love that challenge! I'm sure you already have had everything explained as to the collaborative nature of WikiTree. We don't own profiles we manage them and our goal is to have one profile per person... so we merge duplicate entries and work together to source and present interesting facts for a comprehensive biography of the individual, but it's not perfect and we sometimes argue a bit like families do but in the end we all work toward the same goal. Have fun!

What did I say...Frank is already chomping at the bit!

John Wesley Hardin was born in Texas. Looks like he had a fair number of offspring and 11 siblings, five are shown below:

Does your aunt have any books or papers about family that she would share with you?

Thank you, Frank! Unfortunately, my paternal family wasn't very big on taking photos, so there's not much help there. Otherwise, my aunt would share everything she had. I'm lucky in that way.

Hi Carrie

I added some profiles to your Hardin line. They are ready for you to adopt. Hopefully, they will help you get started.
