Is there a way to determine if an ancestral line connects to the world tree?

I know if your tree connects to the world tree, all the rest of your tree does, but I'm talking about individual surname lines.  Thus I have a Thompson line, for instance, and want to know if I didn't have a particular Thompson line connected to any other people, would it be connected to the world tree, is this possible?

You mean, if your Thompsons didn't have the Dardinger connection, would they still be connected?  Doesn't look like it.

Only way to find out is to trace all the lines, or start disconnecting things.
