I've never seen this error message before.

So, I know Warren's mother was named Catherine, but not her maiden name. I create a profile.

Name: Catherine (Unknown) Mackelprang (1864-1956); source.

I enter it all and get an orange banner containing the following error message:

Error with duplicate ID when creating account for Unknown
Unable to create/save new mother.

I've created profiles of this sort innumerable times. I can't figure out what's different this time. I've tried adding both as mother and as wife, makes no difference. Any idea what gives?  Is there a problem with using "Unknown" as LNAB now? Or did something weirder happen?

Have you tried again?  Would you like me to try it?
Sure, go for it. I've tried several times. Same error message every time.

Yep.  I am getting the same message.
Thanks for checking, Maureen. You've ruled out problems at my end, at least. Probably can't blame it on some odd glitch in my browser.
I have seen it before but it was so long ago. Maybe you can see if you can add her completely by herself.  then add the relationship.
I just tried and got the same error. Even tried Catherine Unknown, leaving out the married name and got the same error?
Problem still exists. I've had it today and late late night. 11pm CST? This would really seem to need an immediate fix. Similar problem happens when changing the LNAB to Unknown.
It's a holiday weekend. It might take awhile to get tech attention. I'll be using "Temporary" for LNAB in the meantime. Shouldn't be a problem to go back and adjust once it's straightened out.

Maureen -- there are plenty of profiles that can be repurposed here: Recycle Unknowns

It would be great to "use up" these profiles rather than creating new ones. If on the off-chance you find one with someone on the Trusted List, you can take them off.

Thanks!

Julie

That would be a much better idea.
Thanks, Maureen -- not sure why I addressed that to you ... I'm having one of those days!! ;-) (Need sleep.)
Not a problem.

Her name was Catherine Perkins. She is mentioned in Warren's death.

Thanks, Tess. That's news I can use! It doesn't solve the mystery, but it does put the problem to rest.
There is a great story about Peter and Catherine here. https://familysearch.org/photos/stories/9361165
