DNA Question

Question

Hoping someone here will know the answer to this. I'm not sure if I'm posting the question in the correct place. Here goes: If I have had my DNA tested and my ancestors are a part of my Family Tree, why then, would my name be associated with the ancestor on that page, on the right hand side of the profile, showing I was DNA tested and also related??

Please help...

Sometimes it takes a few days for your name to propagate up the tree after you enter your dna test.

It takes less than 24 hours.  Is there really an instance of longer?

Not that I am aware of, but it sounds like you know about these things so I have a question for you. Is it a system wide update that occurs once a day? If so, is this the same update that occurs to make people I enter searchable?  I have found that sometimes if I am concentrating on a surname, the system doesn't catch that I have entered a duplicate and names I enter don't show up in a search immediately after I enter them.

I've entered my DNA testing from Ancestry.com but, I noticed I don't have, I think it's the GEDmatch ID, OR maybe it's the DNA testing ID. Either one....if so, I'm confused. Where do I find these numbers??

You should register at https://www.gedmatch.com/login1.php and follow GEDmatch's instructions to upload your AncestryDNA results there. Then add your GEDmatch ID to  your DNA Tests page in WikiTree.

You are likely to have some of that ancestor's autosomal DNA.

To help find shared ancestry with cousins who tested with 23andMe or  Family Tree DNA's Family Finder, you should register at https://www.gedmatch.com/login1.php and follow GEDmatch's instructions to upload your AncestryDNA results there. Then add your GEDmatch ID to  your DNA Tests page in WikiTree.
