Browns from Nelson Co., KY to Mercer Co., IL 1835?

In my search to prove the ancestry of my 2nd great grandfather, Richard Gibson Brown [Brown-18935], I began looking more closely at records for his purportedly first son, Loammi Byron Brown. Currently I have Richard's parents as Jeremiah and Abigail Lincoln Brown, but this would mean he was already married when he married Rebecca Moore. Could be ... but looking for proof. I'm not sure that Loammi's parents were indeed Richard and Rebecca Brown, although some materials claim that. Richard and Rebecca did not get married until 1844 Rock Island, IL.

Loammi (b. 1840, IA; m. Amanda Melton 1865 Rock Island, IL; d. 1912 Aledo, Mercer, IL) According to the Aledo Cemetery book, a Peter Brown is listed as being interred in #1 of the Brown plot, but he is not listed on the record card. Rather Loammi and most of his family are.

From this I began searching for Peter Brown who died in Mercer County, IL. I discovered Harison and Benjamin F. Brown who arrived in Mercer County, IL in 1834. They were originally from Nelson County, KY. Harison was born 1808 to Samuel and Henrietta Brown. Harison with wife Martha nee' Greenwood had children: Mary A., Samuel, Thomas, Floyd, Sally, Benjamin, Peter, and Isabel. Seems likely that this Peter was the one originally interred in #1 of the Brown plot in the Aledo Cemetery.

Interestingly, my great grandfather, brother of Loammi, was named Benjamin Franklin Brown (b. 1844 IL - d. 1888 NE, buried IA). Coincidence or family naming pattern? Another possible connection: Thomas son of Harison married Louisa Coleman. My 2nd great grandmother is Catherine Coleman wife of Stephen Brayton. They lived Rock Island County, IL (adjacent to Mercer). Their daughters, Lucinda Ann and Mary Jane married my great grandfather Benjamin Franklin Brown.

I cannot find a wiki profile for members of this Brown family from Nelson County, KY or Mercer County, IL, but hoping someone has information.

Thanks so much!

Beth

Strange, I feel like this is the same line as the Browns I’m looking for, but I have them going from Kentucky to Missouri then Ohio with James Lewis Brown (family says he had a secret family, may have been married to multiple women, (Vivian Alfie Stout, Beulah Robbins, Mandy Ellen Hatfield) also may have had multiple children (and to be extra difficult, with the same names and born around the same time...) So there are a lot of possibles, but my matches are Evelyn and Edwards children. Any of them sound familiar?

Thanks, Jamie! The MO connection is a strong possibility to link this Brown family to mine, as my 2 brothers' have a significant YDNA match to William Henry Brown who was born c. 1894 in/near Dunklin, MO. In about 1900, his mother Amelia married John Jackson and William became known as a Jackson. Does this connect with what you have in MO?
