Looking for info about my great-grandmothers parents

Hi All

My grandmother was Johanne Tolvine Ragnhilde Olsen (or, technically, Konradsdatter).  She was born 30 sept 1879 in Tromso and came to Cape Town, South Africa, sometime between 1897 and 1899, and married Svend Ove Halfdan Hansen (from Copenhagen, Denmark) on 24 Dec.1900, in Cape Town.

Her mother was Karen Marie Andersdatter born 1843 in Levanger, Nord-Trondelag, and her father was Konrad Albert Olsen, born 1845 in Tromso. (his father, Eilert Martinus Olsen was born in Bodo, Nordland - my mistake on original message)

I have found a record which states the names of Karen Marie's parents as Anders Jonassen and Janetteregine Jonasdatter.  I have no information about them at all.  I am keen to establish their BMD details, as well as their other family members, parents, etc. but I just don't seem to be having any success with my online searches.  I have hope that someone out there will be able to assist.

with thanks in advance,

Brian Peter Hansen

I cannot believe that since posting my original query, I have received NOT EVEN ONE answer.  Either nobody reads Wiki-Tree G2G, or I am genuinely the last one of this blood-line left on earth ?
Konrad's name seems odd, if in 1845 he is called Konrad Olsen when his father is Eilert Martinus Olsen.  If Konrad Olsen is correct, then his father is Ole.  If instead Eilert is his father, then his name should be Konrad Eilertsen (or perhaps something like Konrad Martinsen).

Hi Lori, thanx for the reply, and sorry it has taken so long for me to respond. I don't know much about the Wiki-tree  processes so I hope this reply reaches you.

I have a number of original records of my grandparents in documents passed down by my Dad, and have since added quite an extensive collection of information about my great-grandparents, Karen Marie and Konrad Olsen. I have used the Norwegian digital database quite extensively and was able to identify the parents of Karen Marie (Anders Jonassen and Jonetta Regine Jonasdatter ?) but this is where I have hit a brick wall. I have been unable to find any marriage record for Anders and Jonetta, or any birth and death records for either of them, nor any census records of them and their family.  Numerous possibilities exist (for Anders) but none of them appear to provide a logical timeline (or geographical) match.  Jonetta is a total mystery !  I also have numerous links with common Norwegian and Danish MyHeritage web-sites, but once again, none of them seem to know anything much about these two other than their names ?  Nevertheless, thanx for the help, and I shall continue the search.

regards

Good luck to you Brian,

If I run across something during my own research I will get a hold of you

Lori
Thanx Lori

I am a newcomer to the genealogy game, but I must say that already I find myself totally addicted.  And the harder the search, the more rewarding it is when some new facts are unearthed.  So back to the hunt.

regards

Brian
Hi Brian,

I just stumbled across this now. Please send me a private email - we're also in Cape Town and have been researching this line back to the 1600s so would love to meet up with you. Svend & Johanne were my father-in-law's grandparents too.

Kind regards, Justine

Justine, you weren't logged in, so only your IP is visible, not your WikiTree ID.  No one can contact you without it.  smiley

Ah - I didn't realise as I'd supplied my email before commenting. Thanks for alerting me!
