Griswold-177 possible match, should I adopt the profile, or just skip it in my GedCompare report, then update it?

I am not sure if I am doing this right.  But, my question is: John Griswold  (Griswold-177) is a  possible match from my GedCompare report.  Right now, the profile has no manager.  My relative information for Griswold-177 says there should be another generation between John Griswold, and Daniel Griswold.  I am assuming I should skip it in my GedCompare report, please correct me if this is wrong.  Should I just update the profile, or is it best to adopt the profile then update it?  I guess the other option would be to create a duplicate.

Thank you for your time.  Rayven

Yes, Skip him in the gedcom import for the moment is always a good plan.

I would also say go ahead and adopt John, add some sources and information, decide if you need another generation in between, or if he's even the right guy. If he turns out not to be related, orphan him again.
