Family story (word of mouth) indicated the original immigrant John Michael Fischer came from Wurttemberg. In 1730 there was not a region called Baden Wurttemberg. Immigration records for Colonial PA refers to them as Palatines. I have been unable to find any documents in German archives for Michael's birth or baptism. One question I have is that Michael signed his name on the declaration of loyalty when he arrived and he claimed land West of Philadelphia soon after his arrival, and married in 1733. It appears he was educated and had some means to pay for his passage (arriving without debt.) Would like to talk with other researchers working on this family line.
