Searching my Surname Miller backwards from my father.  I got as far as Nicholas Miller.  1750, North Carolina.  Possibly Beaufort County or Rowan.

His children were William Miller, John Henry Miller, Charity Catherine Miller, Valentine Miller.

He was married to Sally Griffith.

His family would eventually move to Swords Creek VA.

I am related to several Millers who track back to Rowan County, N.C., as well, but did not know this until I did my DNA.  Where did your family grow up?   My seem to have gone to Pennsylvania.  I am definitely related to a Nicholas's father, Johann Michael Miller, who came from Germany, in the early 1700's, He had several sons, Johann Wendel and Johann Nichols were two of them.  I also connect to Valentine Miller in Pennsylvania.  I have many Griffith cousins I have found through doing my DNA.

I have not had my DNA completed and probably should so I can see which line of millers I came from.

I am from Pennsylvania, however, most of my relatives live down south.  I can trace most of the lineage to Swords Creek VA.  They moved there from NC in the 1700's.
I am sorry for my typo's, seems my tablet edits my comments.  We must be from the same family, as most of my Miller's live in Pennsylvania.  My 3rd Great Grandmother is a Mary Miller, who is a mystery so far.  She lived in Venango County, Pennsylvania, where she is documented as married to my 3rd Great Grandfather, a Russian immigrant.  My DNA traces my family of Millers to Eastern PA, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and more.  I seem to be connected to more than one family of Miller.
Have you used ancestry.com?  That is where I found most of my information.
Yes I have a big, (now confusing) tree.  My Miller's all started to run together because most others in my family have ours all confused.  I am trying to sort them out with the help of my DNA.  I did Ancestry DNA and connected it to my tree.  Thank you for your suggestion though.

Cheri
My tree is also big with all the Millers.  I even found where second cousins married eachother, which confused things even more.  I think I will look into the DNA testing to sort it out.
