Frank died from complications of a gunshot wound. I visited his gravesite in August and took a pic of a strange structure between the graves of Frank and Nancy. Contacted an author who has a book on the feud due to be published in May 2013, and sent him the pic. It turns out that the structure encloses the burial place of Frank's leg, which was amputated before he died. Guess that was the way they disposed of medical waste back in 1898!

Does anyone happen to know how/why this particular question has 27,341 views?

Most G2G questions have only a handful of views, and even the more popular questions only have 100+  It is rare to even see a question get 1,000 views.

This rather unremarkable question from June of 2012 has 27,000+....

What gives?

Ray,

The Hatfields and McCoys and their feud are a popular research topic for some. Big clans, I guess, and an interesting history.

They became even more popular after a recent History Channel series.

WikiTree has some Hatfields and McCoy profiles that are well indexed in Google. They've generated a huge amount of traffic.
