If you are getting "too many" messages, it could be a solution to go to your Settings (that is in the first column of the drop-down menu, and de-select "Receive a daily Wiki Genealogist Feed update".  I don't use that myself because as I remember it was just too much.

Welcome to the Wikitree G2G forum. Your joined.

When you first join, greeters and others will send you friendly helpful messages. That should slow down. You get a daily feed that tells you about others that have added the same tags to their profiles, so you might have something in common. It also tells you the activity in those areas. I watch the name West so every morning I get a message with all the activity in the name West. There is also a weekly message (Family activity feed) that lets you know if anyone has been working on profiles that are on your watchlist.

Those are the standard messages you should be getting.
