Stephen Kimball (b. 1777) was living in Sheldon, Vermont during the 1810 Census (page 264), where he lived until at least 1813. Land records there show that he was very close to his brother Jesse Kimball (both being sons of James Kimball Sr.;

I am trying to find evidence that Stephen (or possibly Jesse) was father of William Kimball (Kimball-2118), who was married in 1833 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Jesse Kimball had a daughter Lucinda Kimball (married 1823, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, to Elias Towne), and William Kimball did name one his daughters Lucinda.
William claimed that he came from New York state before settling in Cuyahoga Co.,Ohio, and Jesse Kimball is said to have come there from Cattaraugus County, New York. However, there is a Stephen Kimball in St. Lawrence County (Oswegatchie, New York), during the 1820 Census who seems to have a son the right age to be William (born 1804-1805).
Furthermore, Stephen and Jesse had a nephew Solomon Farnham Kimball (who would become a very prominent Mormon) who settled in Kirtland, Ohio, around the time William Kimball went to Cuyahoga County, Ohio. But it is still a brick wall for me, because the records in western New York are pretty sparse during this period. Census records clearly show that my William Kimball (b. 1804-1805) was born in Vermont, and he claimed that he lived in New York state before moving to Ohio. But am I looking at the right family in Vermont (sons of James Kimball; Kimball-1463)? Since James was the grandfather of Heber Chase Kimball (a very prominent Mormon) you would think more would be known about his uncles Stephen and Jesse.
