Father's dates are estimated;Son's dates: known & logical;Wikitree suggest they're incorrect- Why?

In trying to give a different estimate of the dates of an unknown father of my father (see Berg-1880) , I posted dates that seemed logical and reasonable. My father's dates (Rudolf Berg, b. 1907 d. 1984) are known and accurate. His father is unknown, so I've estimated his based on my paternal gm's known dates (Anna Berg 1889-1980), but yes, it's a guess--he could be a lot older or about her age, 16 yrs. The message I get is: "Warning: Check the dates.A child's birth date should not be before a parent is six years old."   Sure, Obviously. But--Is this a question for The Tech Studio?

Hello, Roberta!

I looked at your family tree and believe I've found the problem.

For your paternal grandfather (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-322015), you have a birth year of 1870. But for HIS mother (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-321745), you have a birth year of 1899!

You just need to correct/re-estimate her birth year.

Lindy, I must edit:  My gam Anna Berg's birth was 1889, not '99. I didn't look at my own typing. I'll change it now.  But the point is, she could have been raped by a much older man. The male could also have been a school chum-"true lover," also 16 yrs old.  That said, can you give me dates YOU think would work?
Lindy, when I changed it again just now, the red banner still said the same thing. I'll wait a while to see if someone figures this out. I find I am often in error and people do say so.

You need to change the birth year again for your great grandmother, Unknown-321745, your grandfather's mother. Before, she was 29 years YOUNGER than her son (your grandfather). Now you have her as only 1 year older than her son.

Was her birth year not an estimate? If so, you should set it somewhere around 1855, which would put her 15 years older than her son (a bit more reasonable!).

Here is her profile's link again: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-321745 .

Lindy Jones, thanks. I've change the date and clarified verbiage.
Lindy Jones--Have I  done as you counseled me to do correctly-- re that last note from you above (9-7- 2016)? Or did you use a different way to comment on it?
The birth date has been changed to a more reasonable estimate and the template has been corrected, so the profile is okay in that regard (although a Research Note should be added to explain the birth date estimate).

The Proper First Name should be changed to Unknown, since we don't use the name fields to indicate gender (gender has its own field).

Personally, I would label most, if not all, of the Biography as Research Notes, but that is your choice to make.

I don't believe that I used any other communications method but G2G to communicate with you regarding this profile.

Post back if you need any more help with this profile, Roberta!
