I need all information I can on my great grandparents and their ancestors. My great grandmother left her husband when her kids were fairly young. I believe the only two that are the children of these two were my grandmother, Lois Walsh Crosslin and my Uncle Marty, I think his name was Martin James Walsh. I might be wrong on his middle name. They have half siblings, Jack and Rich Opray (not sure of the spelling).  I can find nothing on my great grandma and I only know very little of my great grandfather other the he lived in Montana and his father was Thomas X Walsh. He possibly married twice. His wife I have seen listed as Mary Margaret and Mary. Both great grandparents claimed to be full irish.  I found my Great granfather on the census  and immigration  listed as coming from a free state in Ireland. His wife is listed as irish as well. My great grandmother I know very little about and have nothing on her parents.

The Irish Free State is what Ireland was called after Independence was achieved from England in 1922. This changed to Ireland when they finally left the Commonwealth in 1937. There are good free census records for Ireland 1901 and 1911 in which you may find you ancestors just google Irish census 1901/1911
