Hey, Cuz! I had checked before, but I rechecked Fold3.com just now. There are records for William Goffs from Connecticut and Massachusetts. There are William Goughs in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. There is also a pension application for a William Goff in North Carolina. There are no other William Goffs listed there.
I also checked DAR and SAR records and found only Patriots corresponding to some of those on Fold3.com.
That doesn't mean he didn't serve, but there's no official record that says he did. I have found on occasion lists in books of Militia who did not make it into government records. I've also found KY land grants for service in the Rev. War when no official records of service exist. In such cases the information will not be on Fold3.com, and likely will be harder to locate.
