Thanks Timothy!
Tim -- I just started an Illinois team yesterday, but nobody has signed up yet.

I'd be happy to roll on into the Great Lakes team instead. :-)

I'll post a link to your team on the post I made in case anyone comes along and wants to join between now and Friday.
I'd love to join, but can't find my race bib number. I found my source-a-thon badge...too new to this! Where do I look for the bib number?
Thanks so much!! :D I'm in!

Bib number 126 since my computer doesn't want to paste the image lol.
You're welcome!!

To get your bib to show up here, right-click the image of your bib to copy the URL (or "image address" if you're in Chrome), then use the little picture button in the bottom row of buttons right up above (3rd from the left) when you're replying to a message (or you can edit your post above).

Just paste the URL into the window that pops open, and when you click OK, your picture will be included in your post. :-)

Got it :D

Woo hoo! :D

Great Lakes Region team members....don't forget that the Source-A-Thon starts at midnight.  For ease our great organizers have created a tutorial to make this as easy as possible for everyone and to properly track things.

Check out the tutorial here: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Source-a-Thon_Tutorial

Good luck everyone and don't forget about the Google Hangouts events. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Source-a-Thon_Hangouts  These events are your opportunities to win prizes, just for participating.

I'm apparently on this team (got an email) but am actually in Georgia. Bib#105
Charlotte, we used comments about areas of interest to put people into teams if they didn't join one. It doesn't matter where you're from or what you source as long as it's from the Unsourced categories. Any team is a great team!

Sorry about that. Fixed.
S, would you mind numbering your contributions so it's easier to get a tally? Thanks!
Done. And you can stick a fork in me for today. My seat hurts! Will try to do a few more tomorrow.

Bev...keep all of your sources within one comment under your signup posting.  Take a look at what Charlotte has done above.
Bev --

I edited your first comment and turned it into a list of your contributions. You can click the little "edit" link on that comment and continue adding to it until it won't let you add anymore.

When that happens, click "reply" to that comment and start a new one.

Thank so much for joining in! This is going to be a blast!

p.s. Glenn-1060 doesn't show an edit, so your source didn't get added yet. I hope you're having happy dreams right now, anyway!!

2. Emily (Sayer/Saier) Ramage - Added sourcing to SAYRE FAMILY: another 100 years, and Social Security records. NOTE: I think her family name should be Sayer (and not Saier) based on this book. It seems pretty authoritative!

3. Kenneth Leland Ramage Jr. - 1940 Census and SS application for death benefits.

4. Pauline (Follmer) Ramage - Added SS record and funeral home obituary online.

5. Eleanor Ramage - Added 1930 census.

Hey, Great Lakes Region team!

Thank you for all the wonderful contributions this weekend. I feel honored to be a part of the team, and I wish I would have had more time to contribute to the total count. I do love sourcing.

We have been having some discussion amongst the leaders about keeping our teams together and continuing to work together. Mainly because it's fun, but also because we're all interested in the same geological regions.

I'm going to continue working on the Illinois Unsourced Profiles for the October Sourcerers Challenge. I hope you'll join me! :-)

If you have any interest in keeping this team together, speak up. If I can impose upon Tim for some help, we can work to flesh out the free space page with some more resources and use it to communicate about what we're working on, etc.

We could also schedule hangouts (video, audio or just text) so that we can work together at times if anyone is interested. It's a great way to communicate and learn from each other.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone. :-) Happy continued sourcing!

by Julie Ricketts G2G6 Pilot (486k points)
I like that idea Julie. I know you have my contact info so feel free to let me know what you need.

Awesome, Tim!

I did edit the Free Space page a little yesterday. I added the titles and descriptions of a couple of books I have access to that might help someone.

If you have a few minutes, you could maybe add links to the relevant Unsourced categories so they're easier to get to.

Any other ideas on what to include on that page?

I have some .pdf copies of books that I've downloaded from various spots on the internet for quick reference. These are family and location specific items. I have them stored on a cloud drive and can post links to them or should I locate the original spot I found them and then post a link to them that way? I'm pretty sure that these are mostly publications dated late 1800s so I don't believe that copyright issues would be a problem.
I would use the links where you got them, then you won't have to worry about copyrights. Any restrictions should be outlined on the website where they're being provided.
