Is this proper use of PPP status? [closed]

I have a pending merge that is being held up because the profile with an incorrect LNAB was PPP locked immediately after approval.

Looking at the sources, it is clear this LNAB was generated based on a typo in a passing comment on a Rootsweb BB post. I have reached out to the other party, but recieved no response. I don’t understand why this was done, and I don’t feel that this is the intended purpose behind the PPP lock tools. Looking for thoughts, opinions, and suggestions on how to proceed.

Thanks guys!

Looks to me like a simple mistake -- the sort of thing that can happen from having several profiles open in different tabs and accidentally editing the wrong one. The Leader who added the PPP is manager of the profile that has the good LNAB, so I don't think she intended to PPP the other profile. If the PPP doesn't get transferred real soon, you probably should postpone with a unmerged match to ensure that the merge (which is approved) doesn't get completed by a good-hearted person who happens to stop by.
I am confused, there is only one source on either profile and it has the name that is PPP'd.  Actually neither is correct.   Should be McGehee per what is cited as a source https://familysearch.org/search/tree/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3AHuldah~%20%2Bsurname%3AMcGeehee~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1720-1730~
I have removed the PPP from the McGeehee profile, because it does look like an accident, but Robin is right, there are no sources on either profile that indicate that McGee is the correct LNAB?

I took Philip's comments about the name at face value.

So we have the Pedigree Resource File and a personal webpage (which cites "LDS records," probably meaning the Pedigree Resource File) saying McGehee. Neither of these is the gold standard...

Philip Rich also quotes (in a comment elsewhere) a published source (Anderson, Alvin L., and Ruth Stanley Kuntz. "Chapter 4: Third Generation" In Stanley and Allied Families: Descendants of the Quaker Stanley Families of Colonial Virginia, P. 211. Vol. 1. Baltimore, MD: Published for the National Stanley Family Association by Gateway Press, 1996.) as saying:

Maddox Stanley, oldest child of Thomas Stanley and Elizabeth Maddox; b. 8th mo. 17, 1715, VA. Married 12th mo. 2, 1745/6 Huldah Maghea/McGee, born ca. 1719, died 9th mo. 6, 1771; daughter of Samuel & Mary (Ladd) Maghea or McGee, Henrico MM, VA.

Another source of confusion for me is that the PPPed profile is currently an orphan -- meaning it would still be an orphan after the merge.

I have not edited the Bio of McGee-399 yet, the source I'm referencing is on her husbands profile:
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stanley-321
From what I'm able to find, her Father's LNAB may very well have been Maghea, but his children were all McGee's. Regardless, McGeehee is not either, and McGehee may be open for discussion if I could find anything other than user submitted trees to verify it.

It would be helpful to get some decent sourcing prior to merging. The Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy (ancestry.com URL for the page) has "1745/46,12,2 Huldah [Magahea], dt Samuel, Hanover Co., m. Maddox Stanley". (Date should be interpreted as 2 Feb 1746.)

Ah, there are more records on that encyclopedia page (which seems to be Henrico Monthly Meeting, page 197), all under the heading "McGee":

1745/46,12,1  Maddox Stanley pref the MM in Hanover Co., to Huldah Maghe

1746, 2, 5 Huldah rmt Maddox Stanley

I'm pretty sure that MM is Monthly Meeting, but I don't know what pref and rmt mean.

And on page 213, under the heading Stanley, she's Huldah Magahea (in another version of the 1745/46,12,2 entry.)

For what it's worth, Dr. Alvin Anderson, PHD. was an acquaintance of mine and a fellow member of the National Stanley Family Assoc. He spent over 30 years researching and compiling all the sources available to the National Stanley Family Assoc., and completed this book and was well into the next Volume before he passed away e few years ago suddenly.
It is on behalf of the National Stanley Family Assoc. and it's Western VA. Chapter that I have been working on the WikiTree Stanley branches, and I have recently been contemplating picking up where Alvin left off on the next volume. His research has thus far proven infallible other than a few minor date discrepancies which he acknowledged were speculative.
That's great! My comment on sources was in reference to the fact that, when there are differences between the profiles proposed for merging, it's much easier to justify/defend the merge request when at least one of the profiles contains solidly sourced information that supports the merge proposal.
rmt = reported married to (and in at least some of the records, the date given is the date reported)

rmt is used a lot in the Quaker Encyclopedia, but pref I don't remember, sounds like preferred meeting
Ok, Before I proceed... Is there concensus to the direction of the merge? LNAB McGee aka Maghea?
Well, I have only the briefest acquaintance with sources for her, but I've not seen any indication that she was recorded under either of the two name spellings on her profiles.. Did Dr. Anderson have records that support a choice of spelling? I do see Maghea...
pref is most likely a typo/transcription error.

prcf = "produced certificate from" Meaning had a certificate stating they had been given permission to relocate and business/church affairs are resolved and in good standing.
rmt = "reported married to" There is no insinuation of this being an "additional" marriage or a marriage "out" to be taken from this.
The segment I added to her Bio is a direct quote from P. 211 and yes there are citations in the book, but I'm 2 hours away from the book (at home) until Monday.
OK, the quoted paragraph on P. 211 of Dr. Alvin Andersons book cites the "Minutes of Henrico MM, Hinshaws EQG Vol. VI p 197, and Hinshaws EQG Vol. VI. p. 213". all 3 are cited consecutively, indicating that he referenced the combination of the Three. The citations are inserted following the name "Mary (Ladd) Maghea or McGee". And before the list of 8 children. This is the only citations inserted in the entire paragraph.

Well, I just found the source for McGeehee!

Bell, James Pinkney Pleasant. Our Quaker Friends of Ye Olden Time: Being in Part a Transcript of the Minute Books of Cedar Creek Meeting, Hanover County, and the South River Meeting, Campbell County, Va. LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA: J. P. BELL COMPANY, Publishers, 1905.;

The index lists McGeehee on page 53, 54, 55, and 101. But if you flip to those pages, each contains a McGhee. There is no mention of Huldah, of course, but it's the only other place I've seen that spelling.

Looking at the exact language of the paragraph, and the source citations again, I am inclined to believe the intention was for Huldah's LNAB to be interpreted as Maghea aka McGee rather than McGee aka Maghea. So if none object. I intend to carry forward the merge, and then change the LNAB to Maghea listing McGee and McGehee as "other last names" as I believe McGeehee was never anything more than a typo. I will also edit this post to include the tags Stanley, and McGee so that any interested parties have a chance to speak up before I proceed tomorrow.

Thank you all for your input and assistance.

Maghea aka McGee looks right to me, based on the sources I saw.
