According to Liz Shifflet's instructions:  You can count not only the profiles that had the unsourced tag but also any that are unsourced even if they don't have the tag. So yes!

BTW, when you remove the Unsourced category (as you should) they drop off the Unsourced page but you can still find those profiles (if you need to) in your "contributions list".  Top of the page > My Wikitree> drop down menu has your contributions near the top.

Thanks so much for sourcing (especially Armstrongs which are my pet project at the moment).

eek! Did I say that? I think I was asking! I couldn't quite tell from the rule posted on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Sourcerers:

All profiles improved must come from the Unsourced categories or be already present on WikiTree and unsourced-you can't create new profiles and add sources just to up your tally. . . .

however - Carole - go ahead and count them. I'm going to vote with that "or" that it's allowed. Now when you get super fast at this and are racing against past Challenge Winners, you might want to double-check with the project leaders. I just help out on the Saturday Sourcing Sprints.

Cheers, Liz
Just to chime in : ) It was only during the October source-a-thon specifically where we had the specific requirement that the profiles come from the unsourced categories. This was in an effort to reduce the number of profiles there. For the sourcing sprints and monthly posts--the profiles can come from either the unsourced categories or just be profiles that previously had either no sources or only unsourced family trees supporting them. Hope that clarifies everything!
Perfect Jayme! Thanks! (Nice to know where my confusion came from too :D)
Thanks Jayme and Liz!  Don't create new profiles to source.  Only use profiles that are here already for the Monthly Challenge or Saturday sprints.  Oh -- Liz, that's what was on the Saturday sprint last weekend so that's why I gave you credit.  Sorry for putting words in your mouth (or keystrokes from your fingers).
hehehe Liz, OR is indeed operational, we count them if they ahd no sources, tagged or not.  Much easier than adding a tag and then turning around and removing it.  ;)

As far as counting something for Saturday, not sure about that, if the Saturday thing is a contest just for that day, then wouldn't exactly be fair to the others who do that sprint.
@ Kathy: aha! teach me to copy/paste without reading :D

@ Danielle: I'll check, but I think that the Saturday Sourcing Sprint is just a fun thing, not a contest, & the numbers are tallied separately.

Dang. I'm brain-dead. Jayme already answered that question (I'd posted it to her profile & she answered on mine):

2) can participants in the Saturday Sourcing Sprints transfer their numbers to their answer in the monthy challenge?

A: Definitely! But only, if they post their number in the monthly post. With the project growing each month, it would be too difficult to count each separate week unless they post the number of profiles (or a list of the profiles they sourced) into their main answer on the monthly post.

So, yes, you can count your Saturday profiles in the Monthly Challenge - you just have to copy them into your G2G answer there.

Cheers, Liz
