Can anyone help with information about Hoopers who migrated from Somerset to North America in the 19th century?

The parents of the Hoopers who migrated to America and Canada were Thomas Hooper (1811-1886) and Elizabeth Hockey (1815-1879).  It has been suggested that the Hoopers who went to Massachusetts bred hereford cattle.  A descendant of the Hooper who settled in Nova Scotia was Edwin Hooper who served in the Canadian navy in World War II.  He may have been from Halifax.

My ancestor who came to Queensland, Australia in 1855 was John Hooper (1835-1917) from Merriott,  who married Ann Burgess from Chiselborough.
